How does Sherlock recognize a person from a single image?
Once you send a photo, Sherlock passes it to our matching engine, which searches openly published images across the web, social profiles and public pages, and ranks them by how closely each face matches. Every search happens in real time; nothing is pre-baked.
What happens to the photo I upload?
It goes straight to the matching engine for that one search and nowhere else. Sherlock saves no copy, never adds it to any public directory, never ties it to another person, and never sells it.
Can other people see what I looked up?
No. Each result is visible only inside your own account, and no one else can access it. We also never build public profile pages for the people you search.
Is Sherlock legal to use?
Sherlock only reads publicly available web content for safety and identity checks. How you use the results is your responsibility. Since it is not a consumer reporting product, it cannot be used for employment, housing, or credit decisions.

We cover the major social networks, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, and OnlyFans, along with the wider public web, and we add new coverage over time.
